Waitsia Gas Project: Precision Injection & Custom Skids
Project Background
AFP delivered the design, fabrication, and assembly of 10 custom chemical metering skids for the Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 in Western Australia, with Mitsui as the end user.
These skids were built to integrate Skoflo SF3 chemical metering valves on durable stainless steel 316 frames, ensuring accurate, safe, and reliable chemical injection under demanding operating conditions.
By combining measurement, actuation, and control into one fully integrated solution, AFP provided a compact, automated chemical injection system that delivers consistent dosing even under fluctuating pressures.
Key Features
- Integrated technology – positive Displacement Flow Meter (PDFM), Actuator, and Chemical Injection Metering Valve (CIMV) in a single unit.
- Consistent dosing – maintains set flow rates regardless of upstream or downstream pressure changes.
- Automated efficiency – multi-point injection capability in a small footprint.
- Flexible performance – flow range of 0.09 to 94 LPH, with additional flow options available.
- High-pressure design – rated to 345 barg working pressure (with options up to 1034 barg).
- Zone 1 suitability – compliant for hazardous areas (Ex db IIB T6).
- Smart connectivity – HART protocol for monitoring and control, with Modbus option available.

Project Outcome
The completed skids provided Mitsui with a fully automated and highly reliable chemical injection solution, enhancing both operational performance and long-term maintainability for the Waitsia Gas Project.
This project highlights AFP’s expertise in custom skid fabrication, precision metering solutions, and engineered packages designed to meet the rigorous demands of Australia’s energy sector.
