Scarborough FBU Chemical Injection Package Engineered, Built and Delivered In-House
Project Background
AFP was engaged by McDermott Asia Pacific to deliver the design and manufacture of chemical injection skids for Woodside Energy’s Scarborough Floating Production Unit (FPU).
The scope covered the entire lifecycle, from engineering a 3D modelling through to fabrication, assembly, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and documentation. Each skid was built to stringent offshore specifications, meeting the project’s highest quality standards.
The solution incorporated seven chemical storage tanks (up to 30,000 litres in capacity) and a suite of API 675 Milton Roy pumps for precise chemical dosing, including corrosion inhibitor, oxygen scavenger, citric acid, anti-foam and sodium carbonate. To support transport and installation, the largest package was designed as two modular skids, weighing 19.5 tonnes and 24.3 tonnes respectively.
Summary of Key Components
The Scarborough Chemical Injection Package comprised a series of specialised skid systems, each designed for precise chemical dosing offshore.
- Skid A62001 – Multi-Role Unit (MRU): Corrosion inhibitor, anti-foam, citric acid, sodium carbonate and oxygen scavenger systems, complete with dedicated storage tanks and duty/standby pump configurations.
- Skid A51001 – CM Biocide Skid: Biocide dosing system with chemical container provisions.
- Skid A52001 – HM Oxygen Scavenger / Corrosion Inhibitor Skid: High-pressure dosing system with space for future expansion.
- Skid A54301 – Diesel Biocide Skid: Diesel biocide dosing system with container storage and safety systems.
All skids were equipped with Milton Roy API 675 pumps, integrated piping and valves, PCS/SIS instrumentation, E-Stop stations, and space for future pump installations.
